KJ Johnson had always been a natural athlete. Growing up, she excelled in every sport she tried, from soccer to track and field. But it was gymnastics that truly captured her heart. At the age of six, she joined a local gymnastics club and quickly rose through the ranks, winning numerous competitions and earning a spot on the LSU gymnastics team.
